What is the difference between the F-1 and the M-1 visa?
Both F-1 and M-1 visas are U.S. student visas. These are nonimmigrant visas issued to international students who seek to study in the U.S.
F-1 visas are for international students who wish to attend academic programs, English or other language programs, university or college, high school or private elementary school, seminary or conservatory in the U.S.
M-1 visas are for the international students who wish to study a vocational program in the U.S. These visas are for those who intend to attend non-academic institutions like trade schools or practical training schools to learn a technical skill. Popular programs of study among M-1 students are cosmetology, aviation, visual and performing arts, theology and religious vocations.
