When is the right time to apply for U.S. Citizenship to vote in the 2016 presidential election?
If you want your voice to be heard and vote in the 2016 presidential election, the time for you to apply for U.S. citizenship is now!
While some U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) field offices take around five months to process Form N-400, Application for Naturalization, some field offices take between 6 and 10 months to process these applications. If the field office that is processing your application is experiencing a processing delay, you may not get a decision on your case, in five or six months.
You also need to remember that most American states require new U.S. citizens to register to vote ahead of the presidential election. While some states require new citizens to register, just few days before the election, some states require citizens to register around 30 days before the election date, November 7, 2016.
So it is wise to file your application for U.S. citizenship as soon as possible, if you wish to vote for the next President of the U.S.
