If you have been waiting to get a green card through the Diversity Visa lottery 2019, the time for you to submit your entry is here. You can file your entry between Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at 12:00 noon and Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 12:00 noon.

Unlike other green card categories like the family and employment based categories that require a sponsor to file a petition for you, this program does not require a sponsor. You need to be of age 18 or above to file an entry and meet the education or job requirements. The most important requirement is belonging to an eligible country. Though there is no fee to apply for the green card lottery, you will have to pay the required fee for the immigrant visa if you win the lottery and are eligible for an immigrant visa. Many falsely believe that the U.S. government will pay their visa fee, airfare, help them find housing and employment and also provide subsides until they are settled. None of these benefits will be made available by the U.S. government. Winners of the lottery will need to prove that they will not depend on government services and that they will be able to support themselves financially, while in the U.S. Only then they will be issued an immigrant visa.
