500 New Employees for the USCIS Office in Overland Park

USCIS will hire 500 employees for its new office at Rosana Square in Overland Park, Kansas. USCIS has signed a lease for 8 years and USCIS is likely to start its operations in the new premises in the month of December. Similarly, USCIS has also planned to hire 300 new employees for its immigration office in Lee’s Summit and lots of Americans are likely to obtain employment opportunities.

New employees who will be recruited for the new immigration office at Overland Park, will handle the Green Card renewal applications, Form I-90, Application to Replace Permanent Resident Card. These applications are used by Green Card holders to replace or renew their Green Cards. Similarly, the new employees will also deal with I-130 applications. Form I-130, must be filed by a US citizen or a Green Card holder who looks forward to sponsor his family member for lawful status in the United States.

Immigration officers in the office in Lee’s Summit are currently handling I-90 and I-130, applications. But USCIS has planned to move the responsibilities to Overland Park location, as the other service centers are likely to experience a heavier workload because of the increasing deferred action applications. Deferred action, a process that would temporarily halt the removal of young undocumented immigrants was recently implemented by President Obama. As there are millions of undocumented immigrants in the United States, USCIS is constantly receiving lots of applications and is experiencing a heavy work load.

Regional Administrator of GSA, Jason Klumb, said that the new lease will help the USCIS to provide jobs to Americans in Kansas and the modern immigration office will help the USCIS to offer better services to the Americans. USCIS spokesman, Timothy J. Counts, said that the hiring for the new immigration office, will be completed within ten months and he also said that the agency may not hire at once and the eligible applicants need to check usajobs.gov, for information on job openings.
