What is the most common type of immigration scam related to job offers?
One of the most common types of job related immigration scams is where scammers ask you to pay money to receive a job offer, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
If you receive an email asking you to come to the U.S. to work here and if you are asked to pay for that offer, make sure you do not pay because that will most probably be a fraudulent email.
Even if the offer you received is genuine, you will not be allowed to work in the U.S. unless you are a legal permanent resident of the U.S., have an employment authorization document or hold a U.S. work visa. Don’t fall prey to scammers whose aim is only to extract money from you.
Even if you hold a U.S. student visa, you will have to talk to your school’s designated school official before you take start working in the U.S.
