Immigration Fact of the Week (March 7 – 13)

Can I reschedule or cancel my USCIS appointment if I feel sick? Can I reschedule or cancel my USCIS appointment if I feel sick?

Yes, you can.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) allows applicants to cancel or reschedule their appointments in order to ensure safety of the agency’s customers and employees. If you have any illness, you will be allowed to cancel or reschedule your immigration appointment, without penalty.

According to the USCIS, you can reschedule or cancel an appointment if you have symptoms of cold, flu, fever, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache or body ache, muscle or stomach pain, chest pain or difficulty breathing, tuberculosis (TB), mumps, measles, chickenpox or other contagious diseases.

The appointment notice the USCIS sends you will include information on how to reschedule your appointment. Follow those instructions to reschedule your appointment. Remember that the USCIS will cancel your appointment or interview if you appear ill when you arrive at the USCIS office. However, the agency will help you reschedule your appointment without penalty.
